This is the week before go-live. In my day job, “go-live” is a thing, since it means that a new website or product that I’ve been working on is going live to the world. But here, in my author job, it means that my website and email list are going live.
I’m on vacation right now, but that isn’t stopping me from doing some work every day on this thing.
My biggest to-do at this point is to fix my email list to capture “first” and “last” instead of just “name” all in one clump. I want my emails to be able to say:
Hi, Joe!
Blah blah blah.
I’m using Sendy as my sender of choice. It hooks up to Amazon SES to send emails, and the delivery rate is supposed to be really good. Plus it’s really cheap, like $1.00 per 10,000 emails or something crazy like that.
The other email list services charge you by the subscriber count.
At the end of the day, I guess it doesn’t matter right now. My dog is my only subscriber, so everything is cheap. But hey, I’m looking ahead!
